Georgette Shupe
BLOOMINGTON - Georgette Morrison Shupe, 66, of 2 Lake Pointe Court, Bloomington, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday (Aug. 18, 2008) at her residence.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomington, with the Rev. Keith Ferguson officiating. Burial will be at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Cancer Center, Normal, and Friends of Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University.
She was born Jan. 11, 1942, in Bloomington, the daughter of George R. and Helen Hamer Morrison. She married Lewis R. Shupe III in 1966 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomington.
She is survived by two children, Lewis R. "Chip" (Heidi) Shupe IV, Coopersburg, Pa., and Christopher G.F. Shupe, Bloomington and Boulder, Colo.
She was preceded in death by both parents.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomington. She graduated from Bloomington High School in 1960. She studied architecture in Paris at Palais de Fontainbleau. She was a graduate of the New York School of Design. She attended the New York University and Pratt Institute; she then graduated from the Art Career School of New York. She attended the Interlochen Music Academy from 1957-1959.
Georgette was the former owner and operator of The Blue Owl and Village Stitches, Bloomington. She had operated the family farm. She was a member of PEO since 1964, served on the BroMenn Advisory Council and volunteered at BroMenn Hospital. She was a member of Ladies Aid Society. She was a former board member of the Mc Lean County Arts Center. She was active in the Reach to Recovery Program for the American Cancer Society. She was on the ISU Board for the Friends of Mennonite College of Nursing.
She was a proud mother.
