BLOOMINGTON — Thomas J. Graves, 71, of Bloomington, passed away at 12:23 p.m. Wednesday (March 12, 2014) at Methodist Medical Center of Illinois, Peoria.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington. A private family graveside service will be at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Community Cancer Center.

Tom was born on March 20, 1942, in Bloomington, the son of Clarence P. and Edythe E. Tindall Graves. He married Wanda Crabtree on March 22, 1969, in Bloomington.

He is survived by his wife; their two children, Gary (Jennifer) Graves, Heyworth, and Sally (Bruce) George, Bloomington; and four grandchildren, Ryan, Alayna, Jake and Sophia. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Donald (Doris) Graves, Magnolia, Texas; Carol (Jesse) Laskowski, Bloomington; David (Peggy) Graves, Bloomington; and Debbie Graves, Bloomington; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Williamson, Lexington.

He is preceded in death by both parents, one brother, one sister and three grandchildren.

Tom was a graduate of Bloomington High School. His class was the first graduating class from the new high school.

Tom served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at General Electric, retiring in 1997, and after retirement worked at the GE Club as groundskeeper. He was a member of the Bloomington VFW and GE Club.

Tom enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
