BLOOMINGTON — Harold William Sullivan, 69, of Bloomington passed away at 6 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 4, 2012), peacefully surrounded by the love of his family in Bloomington.

His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, with the Rev. John McIntosh officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Bloomington-Normal American Legion Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

He was born April 10, 1942, in McLean, the son of William H. and Leona Burke Sullivan. He married Shirley Mardis on Nov. 16, 1963, in Bloomington. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Terri (Steve) Reilly of Bloomington; a son, Scott (Jami) Sullivan of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Megan, Kaitlyn, Brock, Brandon and Braden; and a sister, Bonnie Kay Miller of Bloomington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Yvonne Olszowy and Sue Dennis; and a brother, Lloyd Sullivan.

Harold served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hornet from 1960-1963. He retired in 2006 from BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal, where he had been employed as a facilities manager for 40 years. Harold was an avid Cubs, Bears and NASCAR fan.

He loved vacationing with his family and friends and enjoyed all the finer things in life.
