This is a video of the Miss Selk concert (See Sept. 28th entry below). Click here.
The video is 33 min. long. You will get many good views of Miss Selk in action. Unless you know people from BHS Class of 1963, you may not recognize anyone. BUT, our own SUAN Guess-Hanson is in the video. A little farther into the video the singers are in two groups on either side of the piano. There are several views of Suan to the far right (2nd gal in) from the right side of the group to right of the piano. The big guy in the gray shirt in the group to the right, standing in front of the piano is my brother, Rod.

Hi Rose, many thanks for keeping our BHS60 website up to date. Our daughter, Cindy, was married July 13th in the garden of The Cincinnati Taft Museum. Truly a magical evening! In August, Allen and I experienced our second "Tauck" trip this year, the "Canadian East Bound Rockies" tour, which I highly recommend. We flew into Vancouver, visited the famous,  Butchart Gardens in Victoria, and took the overnight train to Jasper in the gorgeous Canadian Rockies. We then  toured Lake Louise and Banff, and flew home from Calgary.
Are there any plans for a 60th BHS Reunion?
Best,
Lucinda Butler Dohan

See the August 31st entry below for an explanation of these photos. I, Rose, did attend the rehearsal (just to watch) before the concert Friday afternoon. Miss Selk was a happy camper!! There were approximately 40 former students of hers plus a few extras. My brother was an "extra". He attended BHS but never had Miss Selk as a teacher. He wanted to be in her class but he says they wouldn't let him be in band and choir too. He ended up graduating from NCHS where they did let him be in both. Another "extra" was my brother's friend who came to the practice. He graduated from a school in northern Illinois but Miss Selk welcomed them both as they needed tenors in the gathering. All appeared to have a great time.

Sept. 4th, nine of your classmates met at a movie theater in Normal to see the film "The Butler". The theater even gave us all free popcorn! After the movie, we went, thirstily!, to the nearby Denny's restaurant for supper. Click here for a group photo. Left to right are Linda Messer, Rose Robeson, Jill Vernon, Suan Guess-Hansen, Zona Guttschow, Judy Augsberger, Marty Carlton, Jane Forman and Karen Sperlin.

Dear Rose,

Sorry to be so late answering your message.  I don't have an excuse really.  I have been volunteering as the Mentor Coordinator of our county Master Naturalist Chapter and our busy time is from mid August to mid
September.  The first class day of the new group of Students is just after labor day.  It seemed for weeks that every time I logged onto Juno there was some problem that needed to be solved.  All has slowed down
now, however and things are running smoothly so I can get back to e-mails from friends -- which should be a higher priority anyway.

I hope you all had a good time at the movie and at Denny's.  Suan had phoned me earlier to tell me that your get together was in the works.  I don't know when I will be getting back to Bloomington, but I do miss
seeing everyone.

My operation to remove the small sarcoma tumor from my right lung was July 11th.  The surgery group said that I would feel lots better in 8 weeks, and they were right.  I am much better now and am pretty much back
to normal activities.  It seems like not too long ago, if one had malignant tumors in both lungs that would be a very serious situation, but the surgery folks told me that a lot of patients have 3 or 4 lung
operations.  I have noticed some reduction in my lung capacity but not enough to be disabling.  We have finally had a break in the weather so I am trying to walk 1 to 2 miles every day.  I am incredibly blessed to
have these times when I get a break from being a cancer patient.  Most folks are not so lucky.

I am still convinced that the BHS Class of 1960 is one of the best (if not the best).  I appreciate so much the good wishes sent my way via cards and phone calls and the prayers said on my behalf.  Having friends
keeping me in thoughts and prayers was very important to  me keeping a positive attitude so thanks so much.  Friendship is a priceless gift.

Hi to Norm and all.
Sincerely,  Ruth Ann ('Thanny)

Mary Selk who taught music at BHS for many years, wants to have a gathering at Westminster Village on September 27 at 3pm. Now if you ever knew Miss Selk, you would know she wants to have rehearsals. One on the day before, which is a Thursday evening at 7:30pm and again on Friday of the performance at 1:30pm, all of this at the Community Room at Westminster Village. Now, I have access to classes from 1960-1964. She wants classes from 1960-1966. So if there is anyone out there who has access to classes 1965 and 1966, please let them know but I need to know who is coming. They can get me at milan52@yahoo.com or I am in the book. Thanks to anyone who can help. If you weren't in one of these classes but in band or didn't take A Cappella but sing in church choir or similar, you are invited. If you are from the Class of 1959 and want to come, no one will be turned down.

We locals noted in the Pantagraph this week that one of our teachers from "way back" passed away this week-
Joe Morin died, age 96.  Maybe you remember that he was a teacher and coach at BHS and came to our 50th reunion with his 2nd wife Libby.  They lived in Cairo, IL and came from there for our reunion.  I saw where he had been in a nursing home. His first wife Dorothy also was a teacher at BHS back then.

Just checking to see if anyone is paying attention out there. Email me if you see this.

Found these in my jewelry box the other day. Anyone else still have theirs? Do you even remember them?
Sorry for the reverse image. That's what happened when iMac took the pix.

I received an email from Morey Barekman and another friend from Arizona this week. One sent me a photo of their outdoor thermometer registering over 120 degrees!
YIKES!! Morey says he's been spending a lot of time in his backyard pool. At that temp, I'd think the pool would be like a oversized bathtub! I'd be hiding out in the air conditioning in the house.
