Greeting to those of you attending the reunion Oct 1,2,and 3rd..

The Weiner Roast is now going to be held at Forrest Park, Bloomington. Forrest Park is located directly south of Miller Park. There are three entrances to the park. Morris Ave runs on the west side of the park and that entrance will put you closes to the shelter we are using. Once you enter the park off of Morris Ave., you would turn left. The shelter is on your right a short distance from the entrance with parking there and along the road. There is a level sidewalk from the road to the shelter. Restrooms are a short distance away. This location is the same for the Saturday noon picnic.

Those of you attending the Friday 3PM tour of BHS will meet in the lobby.

2021 Reunion Announcement

From 2021 Reunion committee - July 2, 2021
Dear Classmates,

Did you notice the new committee title? Yes, our long-delayed 60th Reunion is back on with a new title. Here is our report:

Our 60th (61st) Reunion is a reality! The 61st BHS Reunion is scheduled for Oct. 1-3, 2021. We chose this weekend as we hope that Mary Selk (now 100 as of 4/29/2021) will have her BHS Alumni Chorus perform at Westminster Village Saturday Afternoon. Jack Waddell will be singing as well!

Firm dates so far:
Friday 10-1 at 3 pm tour of BHS Fine Arts Complex. Our 60 for ‘60 donation currently stands at $1400.00! Great job classmates, but perhaps more of you could now consider contributing, even if it is now 61 years! (Suan guess-Hanson will be taking a framed photo Elizabeth Stein gave her to be hung at BHS. Suan continues researching for additional information regarding Miss Stein for BHS Archives held in the library. Maybe some of you have other information you’d like to share with BHS.)

7:00 pm BHS Football game at Fred Carlton Field vs Centennial High School

Saturday 10-2

3:00 pm Mary Selk Concert at Westminster Village with BHS Alumni Chorus & Jack Waddell performing

5:30 pm Alumni Dinner at Avanti’s Restaurant at 3302 E Empire (Party Room) —reasonable prices—

The committee is asking if there is an interest in a Sunday Brunch.

Stay tuned for additional updates. Additional information will be available soon.

From 2020 Reunion committee - Apr 9, 2020
Dear Classmates,

After conferring with the committee members regarding our August reunion, we have come to the difficult conclusion that we should postpone the reunion until a date to be determined in 2021. In addition, the poll we took regarding how many people might attend indicated a very low number of participants.

We are in a pandemic which we hope will be over in the near future, however, considering travel plans that would need to be made and our ages, it is best that we error on the side of caution. The number of people affected is rising every day in addition to the deaths.

We hope that all of you are safe and abide by our governors’ directives to stay home. Because it will take over a year to develop a vaccine, it is difficult to say when it will be safe to entertain a date for large social events.

We would still encourage you, if you are financially able, to donate to our class project “60 for 60”. The size of the donation is not important.

Here is how:

1. Any and all checks should be made out to “Bloomington Public Schools” and need to reference the (“Class of 1960”), on the reference line.
2. Any check made out as a “Donation” to the school is Tax Deductible.
3. They would deposit these donated checks and total up this balance to be used solely for the (Art and Music) programs at BHS. (Note: If you desire to direct your donation to another area of the school you are free to do so.)
4. Checks should be sent to:
Attention Laura Hughs (Director of Accounting)
Bloomington Public School District 87
300 E. Monroe St., Bloomington II 61701
(Please fill free to contact Laura at 309-827-6031 Ext. #1019 if you want more information
You will also find this information on the bhs60.net website.

Please take care and keep in touch if you change your contact information and hopefully a reunion can be scheduled next year.

Sincerely,
Karen Sperlin (309) 452-1903, Zona Guttschow (309) 261-6064
and the reunion committee
