Bloomington - Mary Ellen Moran, 76, of Bloomington, passed away Friday (Nov. 9, 2018) in Carlsbad, Calif.

A celebration of life will be held, date and location to be announced, in February 2019. Mary will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery alongside her husband Jay.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Bloomington or the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal.

Mary was born Feb. 14, 1942, to George Albert (Ab) and Edna Ellen Moran in Bloomington. She married Jay Stull on June 4, 1966.

Mary is survived by her sister, Lois Duncan; niece, Debra Duncan; and nephew, Jeffery Duncan Brecht. Mary is also survived by a great-nephew, Duncan Lape; two great-nieces, Bronte and Saoirse Brecht; and countless cousins.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Stull, who passed away in 1968 while serving in the Vietnam War; father, George (Ab) Moran; and mother, Edna Moran.

Mary graduated from Bloomington High School. She attended Southern Illinois University and graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park with a degree in social work. Mary had an exciting career as an international flight attendant with United Airlines, where she served for 20 years. Mary was an active member of the Gold Star Wives and the First Christian Church of Bloomington. Mary was a lover of animals and nature. She actively volunteered in her retirement years for many organizations serving youth. Mary had an adventurous and caring spirit; she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
