The funeral for Lawrence "Larry" E. Streenz, 56, of 1112 E. Empire St., Bloomington, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Metzler-Froelich Memorial Home, Bloomington, the Rev. Maury Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Danvers. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the memorial home.

He died at 3:18 p.m. Monday (Jan. 4, 1999) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Mr. Streenz was born May 30, 1942 in Bushnell, a son of Gordon H. and Sarah K. Spiker Streenz Sr. He married Carol June Thacker on Aug. 15, 1965, in Danvers. She died Aug. 16, 1984.

He is survived by one son, Timothy E. Streenz, 1112 E. Empire St., Bloomington; two daughters, Jill A. (Pat) Meadows, Lyndon; and Cathy (Rick) Farmer, East Peoria; and one brother, Gordon (Polly) Streenz, 310 Rowe Drive, Bloomington.

Also surviving are three grandchildren, Brandon and Austin Meadows, Lyndon; and Rebecca Farmer, East Peoria.

Mr. Streenz was a graduate of Bloomington High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He formerly worked at Caterpillar's East Peoria plant for 31 years, retiring in September 1997. He was employed at Napa Auto Parts in east Bloomington.

He enjoyed the sport of drag racing and raced throughout Central Illinois in car No. Pro 208. He was an amateur mechanic and computer enthusiast. He was a loving father and grandfather.

I went to grade school at Jefferson with Larry, junior high at Washington, and then of course, BHS.Larry liked to tease and pull pranks--be he was altogether good hearted.
