NORMAL — Jerry E. Golden, 72, Mundelein, passed away peacefully on Monday (May 19, 2014) at home surrounded by family members.

He was born March 22, 1942, in Normal, and has been a resident of Mundelein for the past 44 years. He was a graduate of Illinois State University with degrees in mathematics and administration, and was a former principal at Oak Grove School in Libertyville.

Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam. He was a Lake County probation officer for more than 20 years and retired from Life Watch Medical Supply Co.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Mary Anne (Wiles) Golden, who said he was the most caring, honest and sincere man she ever met; his daughter, Cassie (Emile) Tohme, Oak Park, and granddaughter, Norah Tohme; sisters, Millie (Earl) Rasbury, Betty Baird and Julie Golden; sister-in-law, Winnie Golden; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tillman and Cassie Golden; infant brother, J.W.; and his older brother, Louis Golden, in 2002.
Visitation began at 10:30 a.m. with military honors at 11 a.m. Saturday (May 24) at United Methodist Church, Libertyville. A luncheon followed at the church. A graveside service will be for his family at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery, Libertyville.
