BLOOMINGTON — Samuel R. Kelch, 72, of Bloomington, passed away at 10:53 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 26, 2015) at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.

His memorial visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Interment will be private.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Sam was born Nov. 7, 1942, in Morris, the son of Charles and Leona Leslie Kelch. He married Margo Burns on Dec. 9, 1961, in Bloomington. She survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Sam Kelch Jr., Normal, and Curtis (Ann) Kelch, Bloomington; five grandchildren, Jessika, Kaitlin and Jared Kelch, and Ashley and Brittany Kelch; three sisters, Judy Felth, Normal; Karla (Gary) Kloft, Florida; and Debbie (Jim) Smith, Pekin; many nieces and nephews; and his dog and best friend, Missy.

He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Linda Kelch.

Sam was a 1960 graduate of Bloomington High School. He was a baker and retired from Purity Sunbeam in Bloomington after many years. He was past president of the Bakers and Confectionary Union. He was also past president of Tri-Lakes Sportsman’s Club in Bloomington. Sam was an avid woodworker. He loved his family and was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
